WORK on the Bumbu Road from Kamkumung Bridge to Kamkumung roundabout in Lae, Morobe, is slow but the contractor is trying to keep up with the schedule.
Dekenai Construction Lae branch manager Francis Martin told The National on Tuesday that they had not worked on the road for about a month due to delays in payments from the Government after its integrated financial management system was hacked.
“We are still working within our schedule and we are trying to push the project,” he said.
“Our work is expected to be completed in March, (but) if we go beyond that, we will revise our programme.
“So far, our pavement preparation is 65 per cent complete up to the roundabout; earth works is 80 per cent complete; concrete works is 25 per cent; we are maintaining the old drainage system; and, we’ve cleaned 25 per cent of the existing drainage.
“We have a couple of culverts to install and we are trying to catch up with the number of concrete slabs we are pouring in each day.”
