Worker urges 18% pay rise

 THE government must sort out the implementation of the 18% pay increases promised for public servants or continue losing credible members of its workforce to the mineral and other private sectors.

A public servant voiced this concern yesterday, saying that the public service was beginning to see an increase in officers departing and joining the liquified natural gas (LNG) project.

“Employers of the public sector are looking for greener pastures and there are plenty of opportunities in the LNG project. 

“If the government does not create a conducive environment for officers, they will move out,” the officer, who wished to remain anonymous, said.
