Workers back hospital’s move

A TRADE union has welcomed the decision by the Kundiawa General Hospital to recognise its casual workers as public servants.
Amalgamated General Works Union secretary Charles Ene thanked the hospital for recognising the workers as public servants, which they deserved.
He suggests that the Port Moresby General Hospital should follow suit. He said casual employees of the Port Moresby General Hospital were committed and dedicated by serving faithfully for years, and deserved to be recognised as public servants.
He said they should be recognised for the years of sacrifice they had been putting in. Ene said some of the casual employees at Port Moresby General Hospital would be retrenched shortly without being recognised for their years of service.
He called on the hospital management to look into the welfare of casual workers.
