PUBLIC servants in Madang have been warned to stay away from Facebook and focus on their jobs to deliver services.
Madang provincial administrator Joseph Bonomane issued the warning to treasury staff on Friday during the handover of provincial finance manager formerly known as provincial treasurer.
Bonomane said there was a good number of public servants using Facebook to post and comment on issues affecting the province.
He said the changes with the finance manager’s post was to ensure government services flow effectively in the province.
“Changes come for the betterment of any organisation and we need changes in Madang,” Bonomane said.
He said there was much to do within the department of treasury such as the full implementation of the new integrated financial management system roll out, the provincial capacity building and the effective implementation off the district development authority (DDA) act. He said the new structures of the Madang provincial administrative positions would be advertised in August and September and that would be a major achievement in the structure which had been tangled for the last 12 years.
Outgoing provincial finance manager Paul Amera will become one of the two deputy provincial administrators’ which is yet to be confirmed while the new provincial finance manager will be Andrew Namuesh.
Namuesh said he would expect everyone under his management to focus on service delivery and perform strictly under the Financial Management Act.
