WITH infrastructure seen as a strategic result area in East New Britain, the province’s technical works division has formulated its first five-year developmental plan to guide its programmes.

Acting advisor for the division Charles Warvala said this year was challenging for the sector in implementation of programmes, and the plan 2014-2018 in its draft form would be used as a roadmap.

He said a lot of funding would go to the LLGs and districts and stressed that the onus was on each level of government to combine efforts to effectively utilise funds, especially for infrastructure.

Infrastructure is among nine strategic result areas in ENB, the others being governance and management, education, social development, land mobilization, disaster preparedness and response, primary health care and HIV/AIDS.

The plan formulation follows a two-week long consultation workshop between the division’s staff and divisional heads, district administrators and senior officers from the provincial administration.
