Works staff farewell late colleague

 STAFF of the Morobe Provincial Works Division in Lae, farewelled their late colleague Lawerence Obe at a funeral service on Tuesday.
Obe was the deputy provincial works manager.
He was from Okapa in Eastern Highlands but lived most of his life in Morobe.
His body was found in a vehicle parked at the Lae rugby league ground on March 4.
Police are still investigating his death.
His funeral service was held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Top Town. His body was taken to Anumba, Okapa, to be buried at his village.
He joined the Morobe provincial government 30 years ago as an airstrip supervisor.
He later became a senior technical officer with the district administration office.
As an engineer, he was involved in the development of airstrips, water supply projects, jetties and roads in Morobe.
Most of his work was done in rural areas.
He also helped in the building of churches in Lae.
In sports, he was president of the Eels RFLC (Morobe Country League) in the 1980s.
