DEFENDING champions Works are through to the grand final after defeating National Fisheries Authority 36-27 in the Public Servants Netball Association competition on Saturday at the Rita Flynn Complex indoor courts.
Both teams played well to draw 25-25 at fulltime, but in the extra 10 minutes, Works proved too good to win and qualify for the final against Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee.
Works suffered a defeat by PNGOC in last weekend’s match, but put in a strong performance against the NFA.
Their shooter Lama Lua netted six points, Tovi Amona three and goal-attack Kimberly Alex potted an impressive 27 goals to win the match.
It was an interesting affair as both teams were competitive and were strong in their defence and ball control.
NFA got off to a fast start and appeared to have the match securely in their grasp at half-time, with a healthy 15-11 lead before Works coach Ati Rawali rallied her side to mix up their game in the second half and cause problems for the NFA defence. Works will face PNGOC in the grand finale this Saturday.
