Workshop participants trained for senior roles

TWENTY people from various businesses are attending a four-day workshop to prepare them for senior management positions.
The workshop is a joint initiative of Air Niugini and the Certified Practicing Accountants of Papua New Guinea.
Management author Ric Willmot said the workshop was for managers to equip them with “skills and competencies required to move into senior executive roles”.
“For those who are senior executives already, it gives them the opportunity to have the skills and competencies to sit on the boards of companies,” Wilmot said.
The participants will be taken through strategy, operations, communications, marketing, strategic business growth, change management and industrial relations.
“We are giving them the full gamut of what it actually means to be a senior executive or chief executive officer in an organisation,” Willmot said. “We are condensing it down to four days which means that we work the participants very hard.”
It is the first time the programme has been conducted in Port Moresby.
The programme was conducted in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia since 2005.
