THE World Kickboxing Federation has sanctioned and recognised Powerhouse Promotions’ light welterweight title showdown between Rickson Yamo and Fin Jarkko Jussila.
The show has been deferred to September 7 in Port Moresby.
Powerhouse, through its president and lead fighter, Rickson Yamo has paid the sanction fee to the body’s Oceania branch in Australia.
This will mark the second time both men have fought each other.
Jussila won their first bout last year on a split decision.
The WKF’s vacant 65.6-kilogram title is up for the taking with both men set to renew their rivalry at the new date.
Yamo said his promotion had been legitimised by the regional WKF office in Sydney and the fight, initially scheduled for July 26, had been advertised and promoted as such on the sanctioning body’s website (www.wkfworld.com) and viewed by its 109 affiliated countries.
Local Muay Thai exponent and former kickboxing champion, Lee Henry Garap will feature on the card.
He will be contesting a vacant world title in the welterweight division against Canadian Anthony Ford.
Power House events manager, Tala Kami said that WKF director Fritz Exenberger and Oceania president Robert Wilesmith had approved the contract between their body and the promoter to stage the world title fights in PNG.
The travel costs and expenses for Exenberger, Wilesmith, Jussila and Ford and two officials would be met by Power House Promotions as part of the contract.
Yamo said he was satisfied that all WKF requirements had been settled and all that was left was to prepare for the show.
Tickets for a corporate table of 10 are going for K5000 (K500 per head) and includes food and beverage.
Standing tickets are K150 with limited numbers available and can be purchased from at Tru Warrior Gym on Koani St, in Gordon.
