IN partnership with the national tuberculosis Programme, World Vision’s advocacy, communications and social mobilisation staff in East New Britain province will be carrying out awareness in communities beginning today to next Tuesday.
The national TB programme was recently rolled out in East New Britain and as such, this will be the first time that large scale awareness on tuberculosis will be carried out throughout the province.
With the aim of educating people on tuberculosis, the team will be visiting Waterhouse Primary School and Kaibaira Vocational School.
On hand to help in the awareness activities will be Dotsy, the TB mascot, who will not only be appearing during the school visits but during the Warwagira and National Mask Festival on Thursday.
Dotsy will be on hand during the careers expo at Kokopo Secondary School next Monday.
The awareness activities will focus on educating the public on the mode of transmission of TB, signs and symptoms, with emphasis on the fact that tuberculosis is not caused by sorcery.
