THE Westpac Outstanding Women (WOW) Awards received more financial support from organisations in recognising the contribution of women to the development of this country.

Accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers yesterday presented a cheque for K25,000 to Westpac as part of its support in acknowledging women of PNG for promoting development.

The awards are a week away.

PWC human capital director Laura Koskinen said they were delighted to support and promote equality and diversion for women in Papua New Guinea.

“Our support is a way for us to say ‘thank you’ to the women for playing a vital role in the community and the economy of the country,” she said.

Koskinen commended the initiative taken by Westpac, saying that PWC aimed to develop leadership by unlocking women potentials and empowering them to be distinct leaders in their chosen field.

Westpac managing director Geoff Toone said the bank would continue to celebrate the role of women by providing the awards.

“The donation is the crucial part in recognising women leadership in the country, and I would like to thank PricewaterhouseCoopers for always complimenting activities for Westpac,” Toone said.

Trukai Industries last week donated K25,000 to support WOW.
