Wrong obsession

Certain church groups in PNG are obsessed with material wealth in today’s world.
They believe we are supposed to be partakers of the blessings God promised to Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 22: 16-18).
There are some tribes in this country who believe they are descended from the tribe of Benjamin, one of the 12 sons of Jacob.
The claims are so strong they have turned some people to cult activities that promise mega wealth to be brought in by international organisations with links to Israel.
Money schemes which forever promise “next-week-payouts” in Lae, Kimbe, Bulolo and Port Moresby are some of these cargo cult groups.
Nevertheless, the Bible, which contains the word of God also contains the history and genealogy of the Israelites.
The Bible is an infallible textbook that we can depend on for any information in regards to the nation of Israel and its blessings, genealogies and prophesies.
The genealogy of Jesus Christ is given in Luke 3: 23-38.
It starts with Jesus Christ and goes in a reverse order to Jacob, Isaac and Abraham and ends with Adam.
The generations from Jesus Christ to Adam is 76, and it is now 2018 years after Jesus Christ died on Calvary for the sins of mankind.
Rough calculation of the time span from Adam to Jesus Christ and to the present day would not be in millions of years, but a few thousand years.
The ages of Adam and his descendants are given in the Bible, so one can always do a more accurate calculation to find out.
The Theory of Evolution states that for a monkey to change into a human being, it must take millions of years for that to happen.
So for an Israeli or a white man to turn into a black Papua New Guinean man in a few thousand years is an impossibility.
The math does not simply add up.
Moreover, if you look at the names of the ancestors of Jesus (Luke 3: 23-38), you will not find one single Papua New Guinean or Pacific name in that list.
All the names mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus Christ, starting from Jesus Christ’s earthly father Joseph right to Adam are Mesopotamian, Arabic, Israeli and western names.
Therefore, we Papua New Guineans can clearly see that we have no genealogy to Jesus Christ and Adam.
We are what the Bible simply describes as Gentiles (narapela lain), just like any other indigenous tribe in the Pacific.
If we want mega wealth, we have all the natural resources in this country to fulfil our dreams.
Through vision, honesty, hard work and perseverance we can use our natural resources to become rich like the British, Australians and Americans.
The notion of using Biblical fallacies and cargo cult to raise false hopes for mega wealth is only an illusion.
Those who perpetrate such false beliefs and activities should check in at the Laloki Psychiatric Centre.
