Yama happy with PM’s Madang visit

MADANG Governor Peter Yama is a happy man after a full government delegation visited and launched and announced almost K2 billion development projects for Madang.
The projects included the airport extension, highway rehabilitation, construction of new bridges, PMIZ and power supply.
Prime Minster Peter O’Neill also launched and opened the Banab Bridge on Tuesday.
Yama said Madang was due for developments because business had boomed with Kurumbukari and Yandera mine attracting migrants.
He said the upcoming PMIZ project was another huge project that would provide employment for 20,000 to 30,000 people in Madang.
O’Neill said the Madang-Baiyer Highway under construction would open corridors to the Highlands provinces which would provide bigger economic benefits for Madang.
Yama thanked O’Neill for the announcements of the big projects and made special mention for having faith on the provincial government to run the PMIZ project.
He also request for the government to develop the town to become the fourth city in the country.
O’Neill assured Yama that it would happen.
