Yama not happy with MPs who missed meet
MADANG Governor Peter Yama expressed disappointment over the absence of six MPs at the province’s budget session last Wednesday.
Yama said this showed their attitude towards working together to develop the province.
The province passed a budget of K300 million.
Yama urged the six MPs to attend future provincial assembly meetings to discuss and debate issues of importance to development of the province. I am the governor,” he said. “The same people who voted them also voted me as their governor.
“We are serving the same individuals.
“They must attend the provincial executive council (PEC) so we sit down and ensure our development programmes complement each other, than working in complete isolation and having conflicting projects.”
The budget, which supports the 2018-2022 five-year development plan, was passed with the support of 19 local level government presidents.
Yama said the budget was aimed at “creating a socio-economic environment for the people of Madang”.
He said the budget would accommodate core areas of the plan along the National Government’s medium-term development plan 3.
“These include infrastructure development, education and health sectors, rural electrification programme and address issues on clean water, sanitation, address law-and-order issues, and community programme amongst others,” Yama said.
