Yamaros plan to upset depleted Mungkas

MUNGKAS are all set to represent Port Moresby in the finals of the Ox & Palm Women’s National Soccer League this year.
The Badili-based team is leading the Port Moresby conference with 18 points. It is two games clear from nearest rival University Inter FC on 12 points followed by Yamaros 12 and Hekari bring up the tail on two points.
This weekend, Mungkas minus its eight representative players who are currently taking part in the Olympic qualifier football tournament in Tonga, take on VAT Yamaros who are set to take advantage of Mungkas weakened state.
Mungkas know they have to lift to have any chance of maintaining their dominance but it looks like a task beyond their roster.
Veteran Lydia Barnabas and Lydia Nuata will lead the Lua Vagi-coached side against Yamaros.
Yamaros coach Kevin David is expected to start the pacey Flare Sali at striker with Delilah Waive.
Jacqueline Chalau, Flossie Makeu and Miriam Lanta will control the midfield to ensure the goal-scoring opportunities keep coming.
In the opening match, University will have to make use of their bench players as the result of the match will have no bearing on their position.
If they win, they will still trail behind leaders Mungkas.
University will face Hekari in the other encounter.
Both teams will be out in full force to end the season on the high note.
Youngster Lydia “Lady Gaga” Kose who made an impressive debut last week should start again at the flank for University.
Coach Francis Moiyap will call on Miriam Louma, Jannie Norrie, Emorah Mandoni, Francisca Mandoi to man
the backline while Tracy Kig, Pamela Norrie
control the midfield. Esther Kurabi and Tokoi Norrie have the striking duties.
Youngster May Mogi, who has been struggling with injury, needs a well-deserved rest in case she is called up for youth representative duties in the U17s or U20s later this year.
Rookies Priscicilla Napoleon, Bianca Babaga, Robyn Joshua and Patrina Wuri should also get their first taste of NSL football in the last competition game tomorrow.
In the Lae conference of the Ox & Palm WNSL, the defending champion Bara have the chance to cement their credentials when they meet competition leaders, Poro.
Poro are leading the competition with 18 points, Bara on 16, PNG Power 4 and Wau on one point.
