Yokomo and Saints caused major upsets in the final round of the Port Moresby women’s softball competition at the Bisini Diamonds on Saturday.
Saints frustrated United Sisters 2-1 in a nailing-biting encounter while Yokomo shocked competition leaders Bears 7- 5 in another tight contest.
Sisters Priscilla Mocke stole second and third base, racing home for her side’s only point at the top of the third innings.
The Saints retaliated to equalise through Kisokau Lomot before Alice Ono ensured the winner.
The losses were a wake-up call for reigning premiers Sisters and Bears, who will need to polish up on their batting and fielding heading into the finals which start this weekend.
But despite the losses, competition pacesetters Bears are the minor premiers, with Sisters securing the second spot.
For Yokomo and Saints, the wins will give them confidence heading into finals.
The ladder is yet to be confirmed by the competition executives this week.
