IT was Papua New Guinea Cuemul’s youngest member of the team Miria David’s test of faith against top snooker champion Steven Mifsud yesterday during the men’s snooker titles of the 2013 BSP Oceania Billiards & Snooker championships at the Port Moresby Country club.
The 16-year-old took on the Australian former billiards champion in his second game at the Port Moresby Country Club losing 5 frames to 0 in the best of nine.
The young man from the Hanuabada village in the nation’s capital spoke well of his performance despite going down saying that it was a great honour getting to play such a professional player.
”I was a little bit nervous when I heard I was going to play him. All I heard was that he a really good player. I’m glad I had the chance in playing him, it has given me the confidence and experience.” David said.
David said that such big international tournament such as the 2013 BSP Oceania Billiards & Snooker championships would give him a lot of experience that would help him build up for other future events.
David was stoked at having elder brother Gavera watch his game against Mifsud.
David lost to Poliap Pokanau 4-1 in his first match. He will face No.1 Djorne Fong today in the men’s snooker titles match.
