A YOUNG Defence outfit pulled off a stunning 2-0 victory over Momase in the Port Moresby Super League challenge at the Bisini Soccer Grounds on Saturday to end their winning run.

After being written off last Friday, Defence put on their armour and came out firing on all cylinders.

Despite not snatching an early lead from a golden opportunity to Marcellus Jui early in the game, they pulled together in the second spell to claim victory.

It was flanker Clayton Leonard who initially placed a perfect shot for Jui to beat the opposing goalkeeper. But  Jui failed to convert.

Defence striker Pettyshen Elizah slotted in two goals to shock their opponents and their supporters.

The 20-year-old from Pityluh Island, Manus, gained possession of a free ball before curving it neatly between the goalkeeper and upright for the first goal.

The vocal fans got behind the green and gold, and minutes later, Elizah sneaked in another into the target after a well orchestrated play to catch the Momase defence napping.

Young midfielder Rodney Mobiha had an outstanding game.

Despite the loss Momase are third on 28 points behind Yamaros 32, University 29, Maclaren 27, Cosmos 27 and Rapatona 23 making the top six spots.

Results: Defence 2 Momase 0, Mungkas 2 Cosmos 2, Maclaren 3 Hard Rock 0, Yamaros 4 Rapatona 2, Blue Kumuls 0 PS Rutz 0.
