Young Guns claim Duma Cup

 THE off-season Duma rugby league and volley ball competitions grand finals ended on a high note on Sunday at Gomis Oval in Mt Hagen.

The competition was sponsored by Petroleum and Energy Minister and Hagen MP, William Duma and attracted 24 rugby league teams and 18 volleyball teams.

The off-season competition has been runing since 2001 with the aim of uniting all youths living within the city through sports.

In the women’s final, Kala Knights beat West Tigers 3-1 while in the rugby league B grade Young Guns fired continuously without running out of ammunition beating Southern Sons 8-4 to retain their title.

In the men’s senior grade, Kala Warriors and Young Guns played to a standstill for the K10,000 prize.

Young Guns, through captain, Skipper Mel celebrated their victory, after Mel scored a try in the dying minutes to win 10-8.
