Young people urged to let Holy Spirit take charge

YOUNG people have been told to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them.
Church of the Nazarene district superintendent Rev Andrew Akus told more than 5,000 youths that when the Holy Spirit led them, they would never go wrong.
They attended the Melanesia Nazarene Youth Convention and Crusade at Kudjip in Jiwaka on Friday.
“The time when Nazarenes live as half-Christians should be over.
“They should now practise holiness by completely saying no to sin,” he said.
“God is going to use you for His glory by doing great things and you have to be prepared by ending sin in order for God to use you.”
Akus challenged youths to take on leadership roles and move the church forward, conquering the nation with the fire of the Holy Spirit. At a time when evil is increasing and distracting youths with pleasure, enjoyment and peer pressure, drawing on God’s power and achieving greatness in life will be helped by receiving the Holy Spirit and saying no to sin.
Church national board chairman Rev Yambe Sike and Kudjip Emmanuel and Church pastor Rev Thomas Kaiye also delivered sermons.
“Youths nowadays need to have self-control because they can be easily deceived. The devil plays on feelings and emotions but the Spirit-driven life produces self-control. The Holy Spirit helps us to discern good and evil so self-control is very important,” Kaiye said.
Sike reminded the youths that the nation needed godly leaders to take it back from evil and corrupt influences.
