Youths encouraged to make positive changes in their lives

NATIONAL Youth Development Authority chairman Leo Walep wants all Jiwaka unemployed youths loitering in Banz town to return home.
“Return home and use your talents on work like farming to better your future,” he said.
Walep, from Jimi’s Kol local level government, said prostitution, street hawking and all sorts of law and order issues were created by such unemployed young men and women.
He said police and even the law enforcement agencies in Jiwaka were doing little to change while youths were uncooperative.
“Youths are tomorrow’s leaders, but they forget all about themselves by engaging in all sorts of undesirable activities,” he said.
“The deteriorating law and order situation is a growing concern in Jiwaka because youths refuse to learn and improve themselves.
“Street hawking is another foreign culture adopted by the people that should not be practised.
“God blessed us with fertile land for agriculture.
“But we have to work hard to make an honest living.
“To see change for the better in a province or nation, everyone must cooperate and strive hard.”
Walep urged youths to form associations and source funding support to try something out instead of loitering.
“Youths need a change of mindsets to become productive individuals to secure their future,” he said.
“Jimi has the youth authority and support from local MP Wake Goi and we are moving forward with positive activities such as agriculture.”
