Youths look for inner strength

MORE than 200 youths are attending a national youth convention aimed at helping at strengthening their spiritual life.
The Debeini’s Living Water Ministries is hosting the convention this week at Bugandi Secondary School in Lae, Morobe.
Pastor Joel Warupi said the participants were from other parts of the country and Morobe.
“The youths are from National Capital District, Sogeri, Wewak, Madang, Popondetta and Kimbe,” he said.
“From around Morobe, we have youths here in Lae, Markham, Wau-Bulolo and Morobe Patrol Post.”
Warupi said the theme of the convention is ‘Encountering God’.
“We have this theme because we want to encourage our young generations as they are being influenced by social media and technology,” he said.
“We want to help them build a good spiritual life, especially to develop a good life, because life has a beginning and end.
“So at least we help them with God’s word so they can carry on from there. We don’t know, maybe in that person there is a father, or maybe a future prime minister.”
He said the convention was also to help the nation by strengthening the character of young people.
“Whatever youths receive from this convention, we want to help them build a foundation, encounter God and continue to build their life in God’s word,” Warupi said.
“We hope that whatever future they pursue in life will reflect the foundation they build today.”
Warupi said there would be day and night sessions throughout the week-long convention.
“Senior pastor and founder Peter Solomon and his assistant
Gideon Lera will host the sessions,” he said.
“Associate pastors will also minister in line with the theme.”
The convention ends tomorrow.
