Youths need support: CEO

PAPUA New Guinea youths need greater support from stakeholders and Government organisations to drive positive changes in the country, Equal Playing Field Youth Organisation chief executive officer Jacqui Joseph says.
“It is time to hold Government organisations accountable and to push for change and drive to empower and inspire more young people to be change-makers and decision-makers on every aspect,” she said.
“A youth leadership summit in October will allow young people from different areas who want to take part in driving change in society to gather and share ideas and issues affecting them.
“We hope to have many youths come on board, and to motivate and inspire others to voice matters that are plaguing youths.”
National youth development authority representative David Lawrence said the summit would bring together young people to see the future of change as they discuss what was happening in their communities.
“So those who fund the programme can see the hard work that we put in, and the money that we put in today will benefit the nation in the future,” he said.
“Communities and organisations should create a space and come up with activities and programmes engage the youths.”
