Youths reminded to strive for goals
The National, Friday July 25th, 2014
YOUTHS in the National Capital District have been reminded that goals are achieved through persistency.
National Youth Commission acting Commissioner Norit Luio told more than 400 youths who graduated from the PNG Urban Youth Employment Project that nothing was impossible when one set a goal and focused on it.
“Have a plan, be persistent and you will achieve your dreams and goals because the one who does not achieve his or her goal is the one who thinks he or she cannot achieve it,” he said.
Luio told to the graduates that most successful people in the world did not have a formal education but achieved something great through their passion in life which motivated them to become what they are.
He informed them that they were in a similar position and should not consider themselves as drop-outs but believe they were having a second chance in life.
The youths were the seventh component of the Youth Job Corps and received certificates after doing community work on the streets for 40 days.
The intakes were from parts of Port Moresby, with 140 from Boroko, 119 from Kilakila/Kaugere, 61 from Morata, 63 from North Waigani and 52 from Hanuabada.
Two representatives from the graduates thanked UYEP and NCD Governor Powes Parkop for giving them the opportunity to find jobs.
