Youths told to demand for internet access

South Pacific Brewery managing director Stan Joyce has called on young professionals to demand from the Government that it makes the internet accessible to all Papua New Guineans.
Speaking during the first networking event of the Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted by SP Brewery, Joyce said such networking events would bring changes to the country.
He pointed out that having an internet service that was available nationwide would benefit PNG.
“In your conversations tonight please talk about IT,” he said.
“I want you to reach out to your government and demand that you get access to internet and you demand that Papua New Guinea has wifi across the country because it will be the way this country will change,” Joyce said.
He said it was never a bad idea to have access to digital information since that could help the government deliver education and health services countrywide.
Joyce said some people focused on the negative impacts of the internet because they ignored the importance of internet service.
“If you work on the negative, that’s all you’ll end up with,” he said.
He said he was confident that Papua New Guinea will have a good future because of organisations like Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Joyce said with events like the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit coming up, which was based on the theme of digitalisation, there was a bright future for the country.
“It is your country, it is your future and you must demand about what you need.”
