THE annual Yumi FM PNG Music Awards for 2013 to recognise achievements last year will be much bigger and better.

Digicel has again come on board as the sponsor with a K65,000 donation to PNG FM Ltd.

The event will be held on Saturday at the Port Moresby Country Club.

Digicel sponsorship and Events manager Jayleen Morris said: “Digicel is a huge supporter of local talents and this clearly shows through our continuous commitment and support,

now in our third year, for the annual Yumi FM PNG Music Awards.

“This event is all about promoting and supporting local singers, songwriters and bands and recognising their tireless efforts in the local music industry and we are proud be associated with it.”

Music fans will have a say in recognising the country’s best talent through SMS voting for Digicel People’s Choice Awards which will select the song, artist and group of the year.

Digicel customers have to vote by SMS to 1693, 1696 and 16101 on Yumi FM, Nau FM and Legend FM respectively.

The SMS voting commenced on April 4 and closes on April 19.

PNGFM’s general manager Adrian Au commended Digicel for its assistance in promoting the local music industry.

The Digicel Yumi FM Music Awards aims to recognise the talents of the most popular artists and bands in PNG and the Pacific.

Managed by PNGFM’s sister business, the Total Event Company, the awards night promises to be even bigger and better with singers and bands vying for the top awards in 16 categories.

The artists will include an

act from Vanuatu and the

popular PNG-born ‘Oshen’ from Hawaii.
