Yumi Lukautim Mosbi’s 442 graduate in lifeskills

MORE than 400 participants from the Ginigoada Bisnis Development Foundation graduated from various vocational schools in NCD last week.
Most received basic training certificates in various life-skills.
The participating youths were from different parts of NCD sponsored under the Yumi Lukautim Mosbi (YLM) programme to learn and use the various skills to improve their lives.
Facilitated by YLM, whose partners and sponsors included the National Capital District Commission, Digicel PNG, the Law and Justice Sector and the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry (POMCCI), 442 young men and women were trained at various NCD vocational schools.
YLM liaison officer Lawrence Martin said many of the participants had found workplace attachments with several organisations before they graduated last week.
He said some had even been made permanent employees.
POMCCI president David Conn urged the graduates to work hard and utilise fully the skills they had learnt.
Depending on the nature of their courses, the youths spent between two weeks and three months learning tourism and hospitality, cooking and baking, carpentry and joinery, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plumbing, outboard motor small engine and the basics in motor mechanic, electrical, welding and sewing. 
 “There are 442 of you graduating today, and we are directly helping 442 families and communities through you.
“This is the difference we are making in our lives,” Conn said.
