THE Yutaike Investment Ltd is a legitimate landowner company from Hela and not Enga province.

Company executives and landowner leaders said the company represents the Yumbi incorporated landowners groups (Yumbi, Tara and Ikipu) inside project areas of Moran, PDL 2, PDL 5, PDL 6 and pipeline segment 3.

The Yutaike Investment Ltd executives have now refused to cash more than K600,000 in seed capital from the bank to prove that they are genuine landowners.

In a letter to acting secretary for  Commerce and Industry John Andrias, over the media accusations, company chairman Temu Angoea stated that Yutaike Investment Ltd was formed by landowners who, like everybody else, applied for seed capital and was successful in having its application accepted.

“Yutaike Investment Ltd is a genuine and legitimate landowner group as confirmed by the project developers Exxon Mobil, Oil Search and the Department of Petroleum.”

He said the involvement of Kelly Benson with Yutaike Investment Ltd was not an issue.

Hsaid that was because Benson, originally from Enga, was adopted into the family more than 30 years ago even before oil and gas were discovered.

Angoea said Benson,  being one of the sons of Yumbi clan, was given the power of attorney to act for the Yumbi clan.

“The allegations of Enga company (Yutaike Investments) receiving K600,000 is baseless and misleading.”

Angoea comments were supported by Bernard Kapi (Nali clan), Ben Tabe (Ali clan), Walango Wayabe (Mabia clan), Stanley Hamaga (Keya clan), Mabira Wabela (Aluma clan) Yomo Marubali (Habini clan) and Dugali Habe (Toyu clan).
