Counting in the western end of the highlands is progressing smoothly, according to the chief election security operation commander.
Assistant Deputy Police Commissioner and divisional commander Kaiglo Ambane said on Monday afternoon that counting in all electorates was progressing smoothly.
Ambane said that one man was killed in Pangia during the weekend and police are investigating the matter.
He said that counting in Tari, Mendi, and Wabag was still continuing. “Before the end of the week, many seats in the western end will be declared,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ambane appealed to the candidates and their supporters to accept election results. “Not everyone will win, one person will win,” he said.
He said if people were unhappy with results they could take their grievances to the Court of Disputed Returns after the election.
