Duma highlights DDA’s efforts

HAGEN Central in Western Highlands has achieved a lot in terms of basic government goods and services through the district development authority.
This was highlighted by MP William Duma while presenting his 2015 district services improvement programme and district support grants acquittal reports to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development last week.
A major success of the authority was the upgrading and sealing of all feeders roads in the district.
Duma announced that infrastructure development projects worth over K20 million would be built.
Over K10 million of that amount had been expended.
Duma said the authority also implemented a rural electrification project for villages and communities which had no access to electricity.
He acknowledged the support of the people of Hagen Central, the LLGs and other stakeholders on the implementation of the authority.
Some of the impact projects in the district include:

  • Support to community development associations (K4,750,000);
  • various minor road constructions and beautification (K1,430,000);
  • sports – Wamp Eagles rugby team and local sports groups  (K1,222,000);
  • vehicle for Mt Hagen Market (K192,000);
  • stone wall construction (K115,655);
  • construction of classrooms for district schools (K500,000); and,
  • Computers for UOG Open Campus (K73,891).
