A newly launched company, Ace Sports Ltd, will host the inaugural Kairuku volleyball tournament at Inauabui village from Dec 15-22.
Tournament director Nick Maino confirmed that 32 teams had shown interest to take part in the tournament but he urged for more teams to join.
Maino said though the tournament was for the Kairuku-Hiri area of Central, he was also sending invitations to interested teams from outside to take part.
Interested teams are asked to contact Nick Maino on 71113280 for registration and for further information.
“This tournament is purposely for players and clubs, their fans from the different areas in the electorate to participate in the tournament and win something for themselves and they could celebrate Christmas with happiness,” Maino said.
Maino said the tournament would lift the standard of volleyball in the electorate.
“To boost the local competition, I am pleased to announce that there will be a team for Vabukori Amateur Volleyball Association (VAVA),” he said.
Vava of the National Capital District were the national volleyball champions for a number of years.
He said it would be good to get some funding support from the business houses, the Kairuku-Hiri MP and Central governor to complete the tournament.
