DARU General Hospital has been given K10,000 to assist its programme to fight tuberculosis.
Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited general manager (Government and Community Affairs) Ian Marru gave the cheque to hospital chief executive officer Orpah Tugo.
Marru said healthcare was an area KPHL wanted to support.
Tugo thanked KPHL and said TB was still a big health problem in the province and that the money would fund the second phase of TB screening.
“We have done all we could in the hospital and now we are moving into the second phase – the active household screening which is supported by the World Bank,” she said.
“Only when we carry out the active household screening then will we be assured that TB is controlled.
