Koboni bedevil Dockers

ALL hopes for the top-four finish are looking slimmer for the Dockers in Port Moresby AFL.
The wharfies fell short in their effort to string their second consecutive win on Saturday against Koboni succumbing to a 14-point loss at the Colts Oval.
It was a spirited affair from the first bounce with Koboni leading by two at the first break 2.2 (14) to 2.0 (12). The second quarter continued on even terms but the Dockers Emmanuel Tupia and Ian Karme combined to get the edge on the Demons with two goals and four behinds for a 4.4 (28) to 3.5 (23) lead at halftime.
Koboni coach Douglas Lai applied a red hot poker at halftime time after a lacklustre second term and the devils’ stars Brendan Beno and Scott Johnson responded in the third quarter shutting out the Dockers while booting two majors and a couple of singles to take the lead at  5.7 (37) to 4.4 (28). The Dockers had the chance surge ahead in the final quarter with the wind behind them but the reigning premiers refused to throw in the towel adding a goal and a behind to the wharfies’ two minors. Koboni won 6.8 (44) to 4.6 (30).
