Police Commissioner Gari Baki urged his officers and the people of East Sepik to look after government properties.
“We have invested so much in building police infrastructures so you all must take ownership and look after these facilities,” he told the  public during the opening of a new police station in Angoram last week.
Baki said the opening of the police station in the district was a small occasion, but it was significant because it was part of the Government’s commitment to serve its people.
He told them that the constabulary through its modernisation plan was slowly increasing its manpower and Angoram would soon receive some of the recruits to boost police operations in the district.
He said the top ranks of the constabulary would place more emphasis on discipline and ethics in order to restore public trust and confidence in the police.
“I want to stress that although much emphasis is being focused on police headquarters, it does not mean that you have to be complacent because you are far away from the police headquarters,” Baki said.
He said police personnel were posted to other parts of the country to serve the people.
“Regardless of the circumstances or difficulties facing them, members of the constabulary must be prepared to make sacrifices.”
Baki warned the police in Angoram and other parts of East Sepik to take care of government properties.
