A YOUNG man from the National Capital District Commission Urban Youth Development Project has donated blood for 17 years.
Geoff Elliot from Wanigela, Central, said he started donating blood in 1999 while he was student at Badihagwa High School in Port Moresby.
Elliot and other youths donated blood to the Port Moresby General Hospital yesterday.
The youths are undergoing training with Pacifica Limited as part of preparations to work during the Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup next month.
“I donate blood after every three months because I want to help the unfortunate ones who need blood,” Elliot said.
“When I donate blood, I feel light, I don’t feel dizzy and I think clearly.”
Elliot encouraged people to donate blood.
Youth Blood Drive director Anna Megueria said donating blood had many health benefits.
