AUSTRALIAN High Commissioner Bruce Davis has been traditionally declared a “great warrior” in Enga during a ground-breaking ceremony for a K7.7 million school project.
The project covers the student’s dormitory and messing facilities at the Enga College of Nursing.
Enga provincial assembly member Sikin Nili and coordinator of tertiary institutions in Enga Penjore Pilyo said the special vest Davis was given was known as the kiangai saa.
The ceremony was carried out to acknowledge the Australian government’s trust and confidence in the people of Enga to partner in important development projects in the province.
“The Australians are the champions in coming to Enga despite challenging circumstances. They put their money in important development projects that would directly impact the lives of our grassroots people,” Pilyo said.
Davis was later invited by Enga’s all-women Sili Muli traditional dancing group to feel the rhythm of the kundu drums.
