TEAM Oro are hopeful they can raise enough funds to take their place at next month’s PNG Games in Port Moresby.
Fundraising chairman Male Nalau and general team manageress Ailu Soroda Simon are working around the clock to raise enough funds to participate at the PNG Games.
To ensure the team participates the team management had set a target estimate of K350,000.
“It’s a big challenge for us to raise K350,000 but we’re hopeful we can reach the mark,” Nalau said.
He said Sohe MP Anthony Nene had allocated K20,000 as well as another K3,000 from the corporate dinner taking the total to K150,000.
Ijivitari MP David Aorere has also committed to help Team Oro.
There are also plans for another corporate dinner, gospel concert and a phonathon to reach the   target.
He also thanked Oro Governor Suckling Tamanabae for initiating the concept of a Governor’s Independence walk which raised a total of K85,000.
The funds were used to kick-start Team Oro’s fundraising drive.

Team Oro will be participating in basketball, netball, softball, cricket, rugby union, rugby league, taekwondo, touch, soccer, boxing, volleyball and athletics with strong medal prospects in touch rugby, soccer, boxing and athletics.
“We’re very confident  Team Oro will win a good number of medals at the Games and we’re also confident we can raise enough funds,” Nalau said.
