THE people of Kandep have accepted the sudden reshuffle made by the prime minister to demote their MP Don Pomb Polye.
The people said that they were not losing anything because Polye was their leader and would still be their leader come 2012.
They said that the sudden change made by Sir Michael Somare to remove Polye as deputy PM and also minister for works and transport did not surprised them.
They said the reshuffle would give Polye more strength to lead the country as an ordinary member of parliament.
Two leaders from Kandep, Jason Simon and Kent Kuni from Mariant and Lower Wagi local level government councils respectively, travelled to Mt Hagen yesterday and said that people in the district still had trust and confidence in the leadership of Polye.
The two leaders who claimed to speak on behalf of 60,000 people, including 44,700 eligible voters, said that they accepted the decision made by Sir Michael.
They said PM had every right to make the reshuffle and there was nothing wrong with that.
