Rep cricketers can go on world stage in style

CRICKET teams representing PNG at the regional and world stages can rest assured that they can turn out for their country resplendent in the latest trend in cricket wear.
The uniforms, from walking out to training gear are being provided for the representative teams via the corporate support of Brian Bell Group of Companies and Hebou Constructions.
“Following the granting of ICC approval, under their stringent non-competitive sponsorship guidelines, it is great news that our two major partners can now be recognised worldwide,” general manager of Cricket PNG Bill Leane said on Sunday.
“And how good do they look?” he added.
“The new-look Barramundis, who are about to travel to Samoa for the ICC EAP Trophy and the Garamuts, currently in Toronto,  Canada, at the Under-19 World Cup qualification tournament, and in fact, all future teams to represent PNG in cricket will look really sharp in the new designs and gear,” Leane said.
“It is a major achievement to secure ICC approval and as always the strong support of the ICC East Asia Pacific (EAP) office has helped considerably.
“Local partnerships are critical for any sport and sending away national teams to represent PNG in international competitions is extremely expensive, particularly when your teams figure prominently and qualify regularly.
“Cricket PNG extends their heartfelt thanks to Sir Brian and his team in the Brian Bell Group of Companies, the estate of Sir George Constantinou, Hebou Constructions, Monier, the Lamana Hotel group, Airways Hotels and Wasantha Kumarasiri and all of the Air Niugini team who continue to strongly and financially support our teams when making these important international trips,” Leane said.
“Our teams play some exceptionally strong teams from some countries, which have fully established cricket academies, gig budgets and many overseas players.
“For our teams to compete so strongly and now look even more ‘fearsome’ assists greatly in helping to build the pride in representing PNG,” Leane said.
