PROVINCIAL administrators and not council presidents hold the authority to dissolve any LLG, Morokoi Gaiwata says.
Gaiwata, the Morobe deputy governor and Waria LLG president, rebutted claims by his predecessor, Urika Seserta, that he had used his discretion as the president to dissolve the administration.
Seserta had said as a result all government services except health had grind to a standstill.
Seserta had accused Gaiwata of dissolving the administration when he did not have the mandate.
But Gaiwata said when he moved in as chairman of the Waria LLG which Seserta headed for two consecutive terms before the 2007 elections the administration had mounting debts.
“After checking the books of the administration, I filed a report to the provincial administrator for his deliberation.
“He made the ultimate decision to dissolve the LLG administration,” Gaiwata said.
In response to Seserta’s criticism that the K1 million committed for the Garaina-Bapi road was not Gaiwata’s doing but Bulolo MP Sam Basil’s through the district support improvement programme, he said he worked closely with Basil and had submitted a proposal through the joint district planning and budget priorities committee which approved the money.
“Seserta should keep quiet.
If he thinks I am not doing anything for Garaina, he should meet me at the polls next year.”
