THE spin-off activities from a dairy farm in Morobe will boost agricultural activities among locals, an official says.
Innovative Agro Industry (IAI) Ltd LR Group chief executive Lior Crystal said the Yalu dairy farm in Wampar, Huon Gulf in Morobe would required locals to grow corns to feed the cattle.
Crystal said the responsibility to feed the cows would be given to locals.
They will also be required to grow vegetables to feed the employees.
“In a dairy farm, more cows means more feeds to nourish them (such as) corn and maize,” he said.
Crystal said the dairy farm will produce milk, yogurt, ice-cream and milk-related drinks.
The Israel company has 35 years of experience in agricultural activities.
They have seven farming sites in Koroba, Pangia, Hela, Enga, Tabubil and Ilimo and 9-Mile in Port Moresby.
“We will stop importing feeds from abroad so long as we have the land and the expertise to cultivate feeds,” Crystal said.
