TEACHERS resumed duties yesterday after the Christmas holidays to prepare for the start of classes next week.
Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra said it marked the start of the 2018 academic year for teachers “of all institutions administered under the national education system”.
Kombra said classes should begin next Monday.
He said teachers should report to the principal, head teacher or manager “to confirm that they have been posted to the school by the national education board or provincial education board”.
All teachers and new graduates must also complete the resumption of duty summary sheet (RODSS), the teacher record of appointment (TROA) and other documents.
“The RODSS form is vital because it determines the continuity of the teachers’ salary payments in 2018 and for new graduates to be placed on the payroll,” he said.
“It is also crucial that all forms must be filled in correctly, and signed off.”
Kombra said the RODSS, TROA and Application for Registration of Employment (EDB020) forms were sent to the provincial education offices last November for the 2018 teachers’ resumption exercise.
He warned schools to begin classes next week with teachers present to teach programmed lessons.
“The students must not be engaged in cleaning and cutting grass during the start of classes,” he said.
