Envoy condemns citizen’s killing

THE Malaysian High Commission has urged police to conduct “full and thorough investigations” into the shooting death of businessman Wong Tee Tee in Hohola, Port Moresby, last Wednesday.
In a statement, the high commission expressed shock over the manner in which Wong was killed by pursuing assailants in a vehicle while he was driving alone in his car.
He was shot several times while driving.
It urged the police to “bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to face the consequences without delay and to engage the services of the Interpol (if necessary) to weed out these criminals immediately”. 
In expressing its condolence to the bereaved family and friends of Wong, the high commission said he was a special person known among the local society for his generosity. 
He contributed significantly towards the development of the local community in various charitable activities and organisations.  
The high commission hoped investigations would lead to bringing the criminals to justice. 
“We wish the relevant authorities would adopt effective and holistic approaches in dealing with law and security issues and encourage the authorities to continue their efforts to strengthen the law enforcement and the justice system”.
It urged the National Capital District governor to install CCTV cameras along the freeway and at strategic business locations in Port Moresby, which will “not only act as deterrents to curb crime but to reduce speeding and reckless driving”.  
Earlier, the High Commissioner Datin Seri Blanche Olbery attended Wong’s funeral service at the Rev Sioni Kami Memorial church in Gordon.
