Konga: ENB no place for cowboy investors

EAST New Britain Governor Nakikus Konga says his province is not a haven for “cowboy investors.”
Konga said this last week after removing two logging companies from the province. He described them as “operating like cowboys”.
He said while the province needed business and investment, only genuine investors were welcomed.
“I want good investors to come in, not cowboy investors.
“This provincial government has terminated two logging companies.”
Konga said the companies took them to court but they won the cases.
“If they (investors) want to come to the province, we’ve got the provincial government here.
“They need to come and see the provincial administration or the governor’s office.
“We are not here to chase anybody but they have to do the right thing.
“We have to know what they are going to do.”
Konga said his government would do its best to ensure that the people were not exploited by developers.
He said the provincial government was taking most of the plantation land back and giving them to traditional landowners.
