Respect law: Police
CHIMBU police commander is appealing to people causing nuisance in Kundiawa town to respect the rule of law. Superintendent Jacob Singura said while the court had ordered a recount for the Chimbu regional seat, which is pending, supporters should respect the court’s decision and maintain order in the town.

Education standard dropping
EVERY education institution in Southern Highlands should be headed by principals from other districts to prevent tribal trouble. Mendi-Munihu MP Michael Nali told acting provincial education adviser Che Mepio on Friday in front of provincial assembly members that principals heading schools in their own villages were using their tribesmen to fight for positions, resulting in the education standard dropping.

Powi hails Mendepo
THE Southern Highlands government has recognised the contribution of the late Steven Mendepo who passed away recently. Governor William Powi described him as someone who had contributed a lot to the development of the province. Mendepo was a member of Southern Highlands provincial assembly before the provincial and local level government reforms and a businessman.

Families homeless
SEVENTY families living at a settlement outside Port Moresby lost their homeless recently after the Goldie and Bomana rivers burst their banks. Pastor Joe Waine, from the Bomana Prison pastoral care ministry, said the families were sheltered and fed at the Bomana Catholic Church.
