Muruks settle on final 25-man squad for Digicel Cup

THE Mendi Muruks announced their final 25-man squad a month out of the Digicel Cup opening round on April 7.
The final squad were picked from the initial 60-man train-on-squad.
The franchise will be headed by former PNG Hunters Philemon Kimisive and David Lapua with eight new players from the Mendi rugby league.
The eight include Moses Ekep (NK Storm), Nenga Nandape (NK Storm), Aleto Sesemena (Tente Tigers), Jeremy Ludwick (United Medic Raiders), Jeremiah Kunda (Wakwak Bulldogs), Junior Justin-Sito (OLCO Butterflies), Richard Nomo (Poroma Nuggets) and Joshua Molsie (Poroma Nuggets).
The management said the franchise also retained 12 players from last year’s squad.
Some of the returning players are Jack Manda, Maya Clerk, Roy Ellison, Steven Mark, Emmanuel David, Pembo Pokea, Richard Mapi, Samuel Samson, Solomon Nandape and Ox Jacob. Muruks franchise manager Eric Alom said the coach Glen Nami had the final say on the selection of each player.
“The selection was based on Glen’s plan to produce a competitive team for this season,” Alom said.
