PAPUA New Guinea has been invited to take part in the World Waste to Energy and Resource Summit in London next month.
More than 30 countries are expected to meet there to discuss and share information and ideas on how to convert municipal solid waste into biofuels and electrical energy.
Trip organiser Thompson Benguma, who is a mechanical biofuels and waste to energy engineer, said the invitation could not have come at a better time.
“The government currently is looking at providing electricity to at least 75 per cent of the people in the country by 2030 and this is an opportunity for a start,” Benguma said.
He said the current developments in the country will require a lot of electricity and the government is already focusing on power generating.
