MAPRIK MP Gabriel Kapris has urged his people to be wary of intending candidates doing deals which he claims are illegal.
He said even before the writs of elections were issued, the voters had been approached to enter into deals with intending candidates.
“The election writs for the 2012 general election have not been issued and intending candidates are conniving with people into building poultry and piggery farms and intending candidates supplying chicks and piglets,” he said.
“I appeal to the people of Maprik to be cautious because this is clear bribery and illegal under the election laws of this country.”
Kapris urged the people to be careful of such “cargo cult mentality” from intending candidates.
He urged the people to report to police such illegal practices.
“I appeal to the four ward areas in Maprik, Yamaltamawi, Maprik-wara, Albiges-Mamlate and Bubuta-Muhia LLG not to be connived by such illegal acts.”
Election writs will be issued next April.
