THE epicentre of Christian life should be on the concept of love, says lawyer Kelly Naru.
“How much one
gives to God will be returned abundantly,” Naru said.
Speaking at Mumeng district conference held at Zenag station, Bulolo in Morobe last weekend, Naru challenged Lutherans in the district to demonstrate their faith by giving tithes (one-tenth of their income) to the church.
He said for Lutheran church evangelism work to be satisfactorily implemented, church members had to support it.
“Our focus was always based on the promise of salvation as stated in the Bible.
“But to achieve the everlasting life, we need to demonstrate our faith to give with all our heart, mind and soul.
“We need to make God’s business our business – utilising our abilities  endowed by God to think and create something to give back to the church.”
Naru distributed K36,000 in cash to the district with all 19 parishes receiving K1,000 each.
Another K10,000 was given to the Taiyek parish for a church and K6,000 to Mumeng district headquarters.
“If one does not exercise his or her faith, he or she carries around with him the dead faith.
“To do anything in life, seek first the kingdom of God (Mat 6:3),” Naru said.
The 19 parishes from the six council wards met for a week to discuss issues affecting families, congregation and communities and elect new district executives.
