Commission of Inquiry to look into report

PRIME Minister James Marape told Parliament yesterday that a Commission of Inquiry would be established into the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) loan saga.
Commenting on an Ombudsman Commission report on the loan, the prime minister welcomed the findings which were tabled in a report in Parliament yesterday.
He said in the next two days he would consult the Ombudsman Commission and the Court House on the terms of the inquiry.
“I’m also proposing to Parliament that a Commission of Inquiry be established to verify and validate claims in this report and to form the basis of any criminal proceedings against anyone reported here and to capture any other persons who may not be captured here.
“Ombudsman Commission only target leaders as per covered by the leadership code but it’s about time it expands beyond to see everyone who is involved in this matter.
“I believe an inquiry will see fit to ensure an expanded version of the inquiry be established in the next one or two days.
“We will consult everyone, including the Court House and OC and to the exact terms of the inquiry so that the nation sees this in greater light.”
“This enquiry will give rise in point if there are any criminal implications in conduct of those implicated.”
